RIVER OAKS SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION & IMPROVEMENT UPDATE

Statement:

We are currently installing the electrical components and connections to the Grinder Pump units. This work involves entering the houses to survey the existing electric panel board, installing a new sub panel, and having the work inspected by the Fairfax County Electrical Inspector for acceptance. We are respectfully requesting the full cooperation of the River Oaks Subdivision Home Owners in the scheduling of this work so that it can be completed in a timely fashion and not delay the completion of this project. We will make every effort to schedule this work with you so as to cause the least amount of disruption as possible.

Work completed in the month of June and July 2008:



  • Completed directly buried electrical cable on Lupine, Arbor, Butternut and Portobello and Lawton properties.
  • Completed Roadway Paving for River Oaks Drive, Lawton Street, Butternut Court, and Lupine Lane.
  • Paved Pump Station per the County request.
  • Installed Alarm Box outside the house for Grinder Pump units on Arbor and Balls Hill properties.
  • Installed inside electrical work and installed electrical panels on Arbor and Balls Hill properties.
  • Installed and start-up Grinder Pump on Benjamin Street, River Oaks Drive, and Lawton Street properties.
  • Reconstructed Roadway Shoulders.
  • Passed All Force Main testing and Completed plumbing for Release Vaults.
  • The Project will be substantially completed on September 2, 2008

    SCOPE: Fairfax County has awarded the construction contract for the River Oaks Sanitary Sewer Extension and Improvement Project to Anchor Construction Corporation.

    This much needed sanitary sewer extension and improvement project is designed to make public sewer available to 114 existing properties, located predominantly in the River Oaks subdivision in the Dranesville District of Fairfax County. This is a very ambitious construction project in scope, involving the following major work items:

    • Construction of approximately 3,266 LF of 8” diameter gravity sanitary sewer pipe
    • 250 VF of Precast concrete manholes
    • 19,500 LF of sewer force main pipe, varying in sizes from 1¼” to 3” diameter
    • 69 grinder pumps and electrical connections
    • Directional drilling
    • Jacking and Boring
    • 900 LF of water main relocation
    • 42,500 SY of asphalt overlay
    • Extensive restoration and other related items.

    The Contract time duration is 525 days.

    Due to the size and complexity of this project, and in an effort to keep the community informed as to the progress and the work planned for the month ahead, Anchor Construction Corporation will be posting monthly updates on this web site. Copies of these monthly updates will also be made available at the project construction trailer, located at 6925 Georgetown Pike (next to the Dead Run Pump Station).
